A worm farm is a vermiculture production business: you keep dense populations of composting worms (almost always Eisenia fetida, the red wiggler, sometimes Eisenia hortensis for bait, and Perionyx excavatus in hot climates) in bins, flow-through reactors, wedge beds, or covered windrows, feed them a controlled diet of organic residuals, and sell two primary products plus several secondary ones. Product one is vermicompost, also sold as worm castings, moved in 1 qt bags, 10 lb and 30 lb bags, 1 cu yd totes, or bulk by the yard. Who actually buys worms and castings in 2026, and how much they buy
